International Innovation Days on Energy-Efficient Window Construction Moving forward into Asia's green future

India: A country so rich in culture and an emerging economic power. This country in the heart of Asia was the venue for this year's aluplast International Innovation Days from 3 to 7 October. And the participants got to see both sides of India: they learned a lot of things worth knowing in the presentations about energy-efficient construction, they visited the cutting-edge aluplast production plant in Vadodara that has been inaugurated only this year, but they also got enchanted by the beauty of the Taj Mahal.

In the face of globally increasing energy consumption, saving energy becomes a major issue all over the world. And there is a growing awareness, especially in the Indian Subcontinent. Fittingly, the participants at the Innovation Days in the hotel Pulman in New Delhi gained new know-how and comprehensive insight into energy-efficient construction.
After the welcome address by company founder Manfred J. Seitz and director Patrick Seitz, Sonia Prashar of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce held a talk about the high importance of German-Indian economic relations for both countries.
The growing awareness for ecologically-sound construction in India was demonstrated in the presentation of Dr. P. C. Jain from the Indian Green Building Council. As an expert in this special field, Dr. Benjamin Krick from the renowned German Passive House Institute lectured about passive house windows in different climate zones. Focussing in particular on the climatic conditions in Delhi, he presented windows of different quality standards. He demonstrated that the life-cycle costs of a passive house window amount to only about half of the costs of a window with low quality standard.
Representing the Japanese passive house organisation, Miwa Mori underlined Benjamin Krick's appeal to promote passive house constructions: "We do not have five globes", she pointed out, adding that windows are especially important to focus on when it comes to reducing a building's energy demand.
aluplast's role in advancing the concept of sustainability was emphasized by famous architect Karan Grover who has become identified with the Green Building cause in India: "aluplast U-PVC windows are pioneering the industry, and their energeto series offers 100% recyclable lead-free windows with outstanding insulation."
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the aluplast Project Execution Award that honours exceptional construction projects realized with aluplast windows. The broad spectrum of submitted projects demonstrated Asia's enormous progress in the field of eco-friendly construction and showed the vital contribution aluplast windows have made in this regard.
On the following day, a visit to the new aluplast plant was on the programme. aluplast’s new state-of-the-art extrusion plant was opened in April 2016. The visitors got the opportunity to find out more about the latest technologies in production, co-extrusion and lamination of uPVC window and door profiles.
Arun Sharma, Managing Director of aluplast India pointed out: “It was a pleasure to be able to welcome our international partners in India this year and an honor to host our International Innovation Days. We were especially proud to present our new Indian extrusion plant”.

Breathtaking architecture of the past completed the programme of the Innovation Days: the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayum in Delhi, Agra Fort, another imperial residence of the Mughal Dynasty built in the 16th century, and, of course, the world-famous Taj Mahal.
Christian Feldmann was very happy about the success of the 2016 Innovation Days: "India was a wonderful venue for our guests and everybody could see what this fast growing country has to offer. Thanks to all our partners which joined us and made this event so special."
